On This Day: 30th March 2019 - Queensland Reds v Melbourne Rebels (Super Rugby)

Lots of buzz before this game with the return of Quade Cooper and Will Genia to Suncorp Stadium
Reds had put together back-to-back wins, while the Rebels were just back from 2 losses in South Africa
Twins JP & Ruan Smith start for the Reds, with Taniela Tupou on the bench
Quade Cooper had a succesful return to Queensland with the Rebels scoring a 32 -13 win, with Jack Maddocks scoring 2 tries ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On This Day: 1st April 2017 - Queensland Reds v Hurricanes (Super Rugby)
Reds prop Markus Vanzati was a late withdrawal, handing Phil Kite his Reds debut. Kite went on to represent Tonga in the same year.
The Hurricanes had got off to a strong start to the season, scoring 83 against the Sunwolves, and 71 against the Rebels.
The Reds were in the game until the last 10 minutes at 22 - 15, until tries by Jordie then Beauden Barrett blew the scoreline out to 34 - 15
The Hurricanes went on to reach the Super Rugby Finals, before losing a semi-final to the Lions in Johannesburg
On This Day: 2nd April 2017 - Super 20 Final - Queensland Reds v NSW Waratahs (U20s)
2017 was the 2nd season of National U20's Competition (Super20s)
The competition served as a development competition prior to the selection of the National U20's team (Junior Wallabies) to compete in the Oceania U20s and Junior World Cup
The Queensland Reds had defeated the Melbourne Rebels in the previous year's final, and were looking to go back to back against NSW Waratahs Gen Blue team.
The U20's program was the beginning of Brad Thorn's association with the Reds as a coach
Lots of players gone on to Super Rugby contracts - Hoopert, Blyth, Hockings, Scott-Young, Wright, Stewart, Lucas (Reds), Tafa, Johnson-Holmes, McCauley, Swinton, Ramm (Waratahs), Strang (Rebels), Kuenzle (Brumbies), Horan, Ma'afu (Sunwolves), plus more overseas Riley, Ngamanu (Japan)
On This Day: 3rd April 2016 - Super 20 Final - Queensland Reds v Melbourne Rebels (U20s)
Another day, another Super 20s Final. This time 2016 - the first year of the National U20s comp.
Reds took out the inaugural Super 20s title: 35 - 5
Brad Thorn was assistant Reds Coach, to Jason Gilmore

On This Day: 4th April 2018 - GC2018 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony
After years of preparation, the Commonwealth Games kicked off on the Gold Coast
The highlight was the athletes parading into the stadium
Followed by the fireworks, featuring Migaloo, the giant inflatable white whale
Earlier in the day, the Aussie7s girls had a final open hit-out at the Athlete's Village before going into camp before the Sevens tournament
On This Day: 5th April 2018 - Queensland Reds v Stormers (Super Rugby)
This was the Stormers first game in Brisbane since 2014
Jack Hardy makes his run-on debut for the Reds
Stormers are captained by Siya Kolisi, who went on to Captain the Springboks to Rugby World Cup victory later in 2019
Both Eben Etzebeth and Pieter-Steph du Toit out through injury for the Stormers
After a try-less first half, the Reds ran out winners 24-12
